Jr Data Scientist / Data Analyst

The Plunk Data Science team is developing new analytical approaches to understanding residential real estate, with the goal of empowering homeowners to make the best decisions about their biggest investment.

We are adding a role for a data and analytics professional to help us take advantage of new data sources and tune our analytical solutions. Day to day work will vary, but there will be a focus on the following types of tasks:

  • Explore data sources to assess analytical value and identify limitations through profiling, visualization, and statistical testing.

  • Run experiments to diagnose sources of irregularities in analytical output and recommend alternative remedies.

  • Respond to ad-hoc analytics requests for investor communications and marketing.

As an early-stage startup, we are looking for team members who are ready and willing to take on a variety of challenges and bring an abiding curiosity about the “whats” and “whys” of the data and analytics we’re working with.

Specific qualifications we are looking for:

  • Graduate degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or other quantitatively oriented discipline. Undergraduate degree with substantive experience will also be considered.

  • Demonstrated ability to manipulate, blend, clean and analyze data sets from diverse sources.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate analytical findings through data visualizations and presentation.

  • Good “data savvy”, rooted in strong foundational knowledge of statistical methods and probability.

  • Ability to work collaboratively through ambiguity, with urgency, patience, and good humor.

Nice to haves:

  • Experience working with real estate, economic, geospatial and/or demographic data.

  • Experience developing or working with machine learning models and output.

  • Your toolbox includes Python, PostgresSQL and Tableau.

Other considerations:

  • This is a full-time permanent position, located in Bellevue, WA. Preference will be given to local applicants.

  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United State. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

  • Early-startup Incentive Stock Option (ISO) Equity

  • Full medical, dental, and vision insurance

  • Unlimited PTO

We are an equal opportunity employer.
